Position:

You enjoy fostering curiosity and discovery in young students and have a knack for capturing their attention and keeping them engaged because you love teaching. You're also looking for a part-time role with consistent weekend hours. If this sounds like you - Snapology might be the perfect fit for you! The primary focus of a Pre-school STEM Instructor will be to teach STEM Saturday programs at the Fircrest Community Center. Pre-school STEM Instructor's are asked to promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 4 - 6 years old with opportunities for programs with older groups of students. This role requires that you have your own transportation and the ability to take your mobile classroom with you.

Role & Responsibilities:

Lead groups of up to 16 students through curriculum-guided activities
Instruct and monitor students in the use of age appropriate learning materials and equipment
Manage daily tasks for teaching assistants assigned to support you
Keep it fun, but also manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and routines
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
Adequately prepare for each program by reading the curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions
Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs
Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, as required

Qualifications:

Criminal and Child Clearances must be current
2 or more years of experience working with young children in a classroom or camp environment
Education degree or teaching experience recommended, teachers, pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis

Weekend workshops and/or birthday parties
Summer camps
Special events, holiday and break workshops

This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, Pre-school STEM Instructor typically work between 2 - 4 hours per week and up to 40 hours per week during peak season.

Compensation: $25.00 per hour
